Vivir dos Veces plays the balance of sentimental, romantic, and dramatic pretty well. This Spanish film is about a math professor who gets diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and is told he’s going to forget about most things, including the people who are most important to him in his life.

So, in his last moments, he goes on a quest to find the love of his life from his childhood before he forgets her. The plotline does sound a bit cheesy, but the execution was done fantastically.

El Hoyo is a fantastic film, especially if you’re interested in cinematography or human psychology. It tells the story of a group of people in a futuristic prison-like space with many levels stacked on top of each other. Each level has a squarish opening in the middle of the room where every day a platform full of food gets sent from the top floor to the bottom floor.

Those at the top floors can eat just what they need and save food for those at the bottom. Or they can eat their fill and let those at the bottom starve.
